Program Manager Mecklenburg (Including High School Bigs)
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Carolinas (BBBSCC) is looking for a Program Manager Mecklenburg (Including High School Bigs) to join our team in our Charlotte, NC Hybrid-office.
This person will be responsible for cultivating strong partnerships with school stakeholders, ensuring program fidelity, and driving positive youth outcomes. Additionally, the Manager provides direct supervision and professional development for up to three Master’s-level student interns, and three indirect reports offering coaching, assigning caseloads, and supporting their growth through structured guidance and real-time feedback. The Manager holds primary responsibility for the strategic oversight, execution, and continuous improvement of the High School Bigs program within Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Carolinas (BBBSCC). This role ensures comprehensive management of all aspects of the program—including volunteer and youth recruitment, enrollment, matching, and ongoing match support—while maintaining alignment with BBBS national standards and local objectives. This role will report to the Director of Enrollment and Partnerships.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Management & Leadership
Assist the Director of Enrollment and Partnerships in tracking individual and team performance through review of individual and team metrics.
Oversee High School Bigs program, ensuring successful implementation and continuous improvement.
Directly supervise student interns.
Facilitate Site-Based team meetings in collaboration with Cabarrus Program Manager to monitor and support staff development and performance.
Provide coaching, feedback, and support to direct/indirect reports in handling sensitive volunteer and family situations.
Program Coordination & Delivery
Coordinate and implement the High School Bigs program (serving elementary school-aged Littles and high school-aged Bigs) in collaboration with school partners.
Participate in meetings with school staff to plan, assess, and refine program operations.
Develop and lead volunteer and youth recruitment strategies with all partner liaisons and school staff.
Match Management & Support
Conduct volunteer/youth orientations, interviews, assessments, and match development plans.
Make match decisions and facilitate initial match meetings.
Monitor match relationships and provide ongoing support and coaching to ensure long-term success.
Maintain documentation in Matchforce to meet compliance standards.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
Regularly review client/volunteer documentation of direct and indirect reports for Quality Assurance compliance with agency and federation requirements for processing and documentation of volunteers and families.
Provide feedback verbally and in writing on a regular basis and as needed to improve performance and teamwork.
Ensure all child safety and risk management protocols are applied throughout job function.
Data & Evaluation
Collect and report required data including YOS, COS, SOR, demographics, and match outcomes.
Utilize data to assess performance and support continuous program improvement.
Strategic Planning & Collaboration
Support strategic recruitment and retention goals for volunteers and youth.
Collaborate with agency leadership to align team goals with organizational priorities.
Represent BBBSCC in the community, fostering professional relationships with external partners.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Required: Bachelor's degree in social work, human services, education, or related field.
Preferred: Master's in Social Work degree and/or advanced training in youth development.
Minimum 5 years of direct service experience with youth and volunteers.
Strong background in mentoring programs and positive youth development.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Stationary at a desk for 50% of the time
Frequent movement throughout office and school sites
Ability to lift 25 pounds of materials
Must have reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and meet insurance requirements
Hybrid office/home-based role with travel to assigned school sites in Mecklenburg County.
Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and meet minimum state automobile insurance requirements.
Must be available up to 2 Saturdays per month and for evening events as needed.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Approximately 10% of work time spent traveling locally to program sites and schools
