Program Manager Cabarrus County
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Carolinas (BBBSCC) is looking for a Program Manager Cabarrus County to join our team in Cabarrus County, NC.
This person will be responsible for cultivating strong partnerships with school stakeholders, ensuring program fidelity, and driving positive youth outcomes. Additionally, the Manager provides direct supervision and professional development for up to two Master’s-level student interns, and two indirect reports offering coaching, assigning caseloads, and supporting their growth through structured guidance and real-time feedback. The Manager holds primary responsibility for the strategic oversight, execution, and continuous improvement of the Cabarrus County program within Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Carolinas (BBBSCC). This role ensures comprehensive management of all aspects of the program—including volunteer and youth recruitment, enrollment, matching, and ongoing match support—while maintaining alignment with BBBS national standards and local objectives.
This role will report to the Cabarrus County Area Director.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee Cabarrus programs while assisting the Cabarrus Area Director in managing community and corporate partners.
Train the Cabarrus program staff. Meet regularly with team members and help facilitate Team meetings.
Serve as Program Coordinator for 1 school-based program.
Assist the Cabarrus Area Director in tracking individual and team performance through review of individual and team metrics.
Regularly review client documentation of direct and indirect reports for Quality Assurance compliance with agency and federation requirements for processing and documentation of volunteers and families.
Provide feedback verbally and in writing on a regular basis and as needed to improve performance and teamwork.
Consult with program staff regarding challenging interviewing/matching issues and family situations.
Provide professional guidance and appropriate feedback for handling sensitive situations. Assist with the search for appropriate community resources for given situations.
Collaborate with the Area Director to ensure orientations, trainings, interviews, and matches achieve annual goals.
Collaborate with the Area Director to develop effective recruitment strategies. Collect and relay to the Cabarrus team all agency policies and procedures.
Facilitate teamwork on the Program Team and cooperation with the overall agency staff.
Empower team to assist and generate new and innovative ways to ensure our volunteers, parents, and youth feel supported.
Provide input to the Cabarrus Area Director to set direction for the team and develop goals and objectives, establish goals for length of match, retention, and support contact rates.
Maintain working knowledge of Matchforce database system, work with the program leadership team to train/update staff regarding its most effective use, and work to maintain the integrity of the database system.
Maintain working knowledge of the BBBSA Service Delivery Model and local agency policies and procedures in order to interpret and enforce them with the team.
Support the Cabarrus program and development events as assigned according to agency need.
Support special projects as a volunteer or as assigned according to specialized skills and agency needs.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree with a minimum of 2 years of professional experience in a social service or relevant field, who is trained according to the BBBSA Standards of Practice. Experience in and through understanding of mentoring, positive youth development, and risk and protective factors.
YEARS of RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE
At least five years of direct service experience in the social services field, along with at least three years’ experience supervising/training staff in the social services field.

Excellent project planning and organizational skills, with attention to detail.
Thorough knowledge of community social service resources.
Professional demeanor and ability to represent the agency to the community.
Ability to communicate effectively with management, line staff, and agency clients.
Superior teaching and training skills that foster a culture of commitment, dedication, and purpose for those under supervision.
Excellent computer literacy skills to include knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Google Suite.
Tech-savvy and able to adapt to new technology.
Ability to monitor for performance and empower for growth yet not micromanage.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Stationary at a desk for 50% of the time
Frequent movement throughout office and school sites
Ability to lift 25 pounds of materials
Must have reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and meet insurance requirements
Hybrid office/home-based role with travel to assigned school sites in Mecklenburg County.
Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and meet minimum state automobile insurance requirements.
Must be available up to 2 Saturdays per month and for evening events as needed.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Approximately 10% of work time spent traveling locally to program sites and schools
